Lavender Spike from France, lavandula latifolia, is quite different in chemical composition to Lavandula angustifolia. Spike is noticeably less floral, more camphorous, and herbacous with a pleasant albeit subdued lavender aroma. For a sweet, floral, and relaxing lavender we recommend our Lavender Bulgarian and Lavender High Altitude, both of the angustifolia variety and with a higher percentage of Linalyl acetate. Spike Lavender is quite stimulating and thus not suited for relaxation as is the case with lavender angustifolia.
